Aerial view of Gamboa Rainforest Resort with lush greenery and a swimming pool at Gamboa Rainforest Resort

Gamboa, 25 kilometers from Panama City, now seems frozen in time: it is the best preserved of all the towns of the old Panama Canal Company. No glass towers and shopping malls, nor have beautified the terse houses of the 30’s and 40’s. Gamboa remains an open place without fences, claims or commercialism.

Did You Know?

The Gamboa Rainforest Reserve design is inspired by the former Hotel Tivoli, whose construction began in 1905 and opened to the public in 1907. It was located at the foot of ancon hill and had many famous guests during its existence, like President Theodore Roosevelt in December of 1906 right before its opening.
